What is the Fusion Shot? The Fusion Shot is a patent-pending espresso extraction technique where a diamond-shaped puck is used instead of a flat or cylindrical puck. This means that both the top and bottom of the puck is properly shaped, and the puck itself has an even density throughout its volume.
Why is the Fusion Shot better? Better tasting espresso of course! The Fusion Shot offers greatly improved clarity and reduced bitterness.
With a bit of practice, our Beta Users also found the Fusion Shot workflow to be easier and more consistent.
And the science behind the Fusion Shot? The Fusion Shot turns the immense water pressure into a compaction force that cradles the puck from all sides. This transformation has been shown to
reverse channeling.
I already have a $3000 setup. Do I still need the Fusion Shot?
The Fusion Shot will make your setup even more capable by removing the one weakness, channeling.
How can I start pulling the Fusion Shot? You can start pulling the Fusion Shot by getting the
Fusion Shot Mod package to combine with your Happy Tamper. In the end, you will simply need a Portashaker and a Happy Tamper on your coffee bar.

Fusion Shot Quick Start Guide1. Use 15g of fresh beans at any roast level. Grind coarser than usual.
2. Load ground coffee into basket and assemble the Portashaker tightly. Flip the portafilter over and shake for 5 or more seconds. After shaking, flip the portafilter upright.
3. Tap vertically against a countertop a few times. Rotate the Shaper ring clockwise a few times.
4. [Important] Three things can happen at this point:
a. The Shaper rolls the coffee into a nice, smooth dome,
b. The Shaper sits too high above the puck, leaving big craters across the dome, or
c. The Shaper digs too low into the puck, leaving two heaps of unshaped coffee.
5. Adjust the Shaper position if needed. Repeat Step 3 after adjustment. For 15g dose, start with 2 pieces of small magnets.
a. Insert small magnets into the hex hole of the Shaper, or
b. Remove them using the P-shaped Poker
6. After shaping, tamp with the Happy Tamper D-Flat base. Place the D-Flat puck screen on top and extract. For a standard ratio of 1:2, the ideal Fusion Shot time is around 30 to 35 seconds.
7. Enjoy a cup of channel-free espresso like never before in the history of espresso.
